Women have lost the ability to reproduce naturally, and relentless sea-level rise, unending enviro-wars, and constant religious power grabs finally bring civilization's collapse. Char Meadowlark flees to the orbiting Imperial Space Station with Jake Ardri, cocky pilot of the shuttle Space Junque.

As war breaks out all over the world, an ancient goddess returns with the gift of fertility in one hand and a new world order in the other.
