Description
Brought up amid the culture and refinement of a big city, Houston belle Cleo Seachrist loses her heart to handsome rancher Tom Kinney. But the whole country has fallen on hard times, and Tom may lose his land. What the area needs to boost the sagging economy is an oil strike.
For Tom, an ardent cattleman, cattle and oil don't mix. And Cleo can't abide the endless monotony: the vast emptiness, unceasing sand storms, the loneliness, and the carping of the disagreeing mother-in-law.
Can their faith, as stunted as the mesquite schrubs on the range, sustain Cleo and Tom? Will Cleo's song of captivity have a second verse?
