Sundown sends the silent kangaroo shooter, Roo, and his mate Bongo, to explore the possibilities of resettling their community in the safety of the Flinders Ranges. There they meet a foe more dangerous than the Revelationist terrorists. In Adelaide city the house dwellers or 'house rats' as the terrorists call them, have found the only way to survive is to forage by night and hide by day. The small group meet with tragedy trying to rescue a group of emaciated prisoners from the terrorists own backyard. Sargent Nulla and his band of survivors accidentally set up camp right under the noses of the terrorists. Their adventures include love, executions, firefights and a car chase that ends in their finding what they were looking for - the real hope of an armed resistance. But it is the conflict between the Alice Springs Command, Third Australian Army and Sundown's Commando that sets the path towards either disaster or survival in the harsh Australian desert.
