In a desperate attempt to save their marriage, Robin and Matt Brenner packed up their two children and drove to the mountains of rural California for a much-needed vacation. They had rented a crumbling old house that sat atop an abandoned mine and hoped that the peaceful setting would calm their nerves and rekindle their love.

But something evil inhabited the gloomy caverns beneath their house, something incredibly ancient and insatiably hungry. It lusted for the bodies of their children, it thirsted for their blood; it craved their flesh. It would not be denied.
