But she can't tell him that she is the Ambassador, though she has divine permission to tell Thrisiara so that she could help with the official investigation. Yet both know that the officials will not be able to solve a crime so invested in magic that only Rianrielle had a chance. Somehow, Rianrielle must find who is responsible, why they want to remove her as Ambassador, and why his messages seem to indicate a growing insanity. She had to find a way to tell Desthier that she loved him but had been deceiving him, and smooth the way for a marriage.
