Emma MacDonald is a happily married cookbook writer with everything going for her when her world slips suddenly off its axis. Her mother has been diagnosed with an advanced form of cancer; and at the same time Emma finds out that her husband has fathered a child with another woman. She begins to explore her mother's past and per parents' marriage as well, searching for answers as she struggles to come to terms with her own marital upheaval.
