Every child learns to count from 1 to 10. But not every teaching method also doubles as a nonfiction introduction to the growth cycle of an animal! Young readers will count along from a single nest and two caring parents as three baby songbirds eat, open their eyes, test their toeholds, take time to grow flight feathers, and finally leave the nest together.
