Description
In 1788, astronomer Daniel Rooke sets out on a journey that will change the course of his life. As a lieutenant in the First Fleet, he lands on the wild and unknown shores of New South Wales where he sets up an observatory to chart the stars. But this new land will prove far more revelatory than the night sky. Based on real events, The Lieutenant tells the remarkable story of Rooke's connection with one Aboriginal child -- a bond that defies cultural and linguistic barriers and shows one ordinary man that he is capable of exceptional courage.
