Darius — K.A. Poe

Through the Rift is the first novelette in K.A. Poe's Darius series and is approximately 12,000 words in length (60 pages).

Darius - Episode One: Through the Rift
During a sudden attack on his homeland, Darius is unwillingly sent through a magical rift. When the young sorcerer awakes he finds himself in a mysterious land called Earth. To his amazement the people of this place seem to know him, or at least his name. Soon he discovers a horrible truth, he has traded places with his Earthly counterpart, and worse still â€" there is seemingly no magic in this alien place.

With his sights set on returning to his home and helping save the ones he loves, Darius befriends Jessica, his replacement's best friend. Fitting in to this world while he searches for a way back might prove easier than expected, until his new companion is unexpectedly taken by a creature all too familiar to him. It seems that Darius was not the only thing that came â€" Through the Rift.
