La Pluie was the name of a goddess...a legendary mermaid who lived in a cavern overlooking the bay on the island of Cabra. The people of the Caribbean are jealous of their gods, for the religion there is older than that of Christianity and the demands made upon the worshippers far more stringent than the Commandments handed down to Moses. Helen Hannaford came to Cabra seeking the realization of a dream. The island loomed large in her future plans - or so it had until the death of her fiancé.

And even without Mike she had come to make her future among the natives...and the native gods. But as the natives are jealous, so are the gods. La Pluie demanded the final request of her people - a sacrifice of blood, and Helen Hannaford found her dream of paradise suddenly and shockingly turned into a nightmare!
