Description
The original
What About Murder? (1981) identified and annotated 239 books about mystery and detective fiction published through the end of 1981. In slightly more than a decade, the production of such works has so increased that this supplement covers over 350 titles in the original categories (general histories, reference books, volumes on special subjects, collected essays and reviews, technical manuals, and works on individual authors), most of them published between 1981 and 1991, with a few 1992 titles. More than 200 entries appear in a new category: "mystery anthologies with reference value." Ellery Queen called the base volume "a landmark...brilliant, necessary, long-overdue...written with charm and authority." The supplement continues in Breen's inimitable and much-awarded style.
