It's twelve years before Captain Leo Davidson of the space station Oberon crash-landed on the planet of the apes. Attar is a teen just coming up in the military, and Ari is his good friend -- sympathetic to the human cause, yet loyal to her simian friends as well. Ari embarks upon an investigation into a puzzling gap in ape history -- a period known as the Dark Age -- only to uncover the deadly virus that caused it and bring it to life again. Can humans and apes learn to work together against this common enemy? Or will this devastating force of nature threaten to wreak a new dark period on the planet?
