Description
The horses seemed to come from everywhere. Large, small, thick, thin; all a dusty gray-black in color. Manes and tails flying, they raced out of the mist, seeming to materialize from nothing, but definitely having come from somewhere. The wind rushed about them, filling their flared nostrils and giving them speed, but to Jason's surprise the animals weren't running toward anything! They ran in a circle -- one ever-widening circle. Around and around they ran as more joined them, materializing out of the wind and the mist. And then as quickly as they had come, they were gone. Summer break has just begun and Jason, Andy â€" short for Amanda - and Scat have the whole summer to solve the mystery of the legend of the lake. Jason has other things on his mind though. His four year old sister is spending the summer in Chicago with his narcissistic father, his mother has a new boyfriend she is not telling him about, and Liz, the pretty new girl at school, smiled at him. It isn't long before Jason has to think about the horses at the lake thoughâ€" the horses are now looking for him, and so is their master!
