Jack Simmerath had survived the societal collapse that followed the September 11th, 1996 terror attacks, but in the autumn of 2017 he died at the hands of the Los Vegas Transcendental Security Administration. Jack was resurrected by a TSA impersonator who presented an irresistible offer: In exchange for his assistance in a clandestine mission, Jack could earn a ticket to safety. The mysterious savior, however, had been reluctant to reveal that Jack's escape would not be to a different place, but to a different time.
