Description
The countryside stinks. It's the very last place up-tight city girl, Sofia would ever want to go to. She lives in a swanky river front apartment with upwardly mobile Edward, whom she loves, right? Then, a Great-great Aunt she had never met leaves her Mere Hall, in the country! Sofia must go up there to take possession of it. Smelly tractors, marauding bulls and a scruffy, infuriating, pig gypsy, combine, to alienate her even more. The house is a cluttered dump, and Jake, the gorgeous pig guy, just keeps on interfering. Although he does have a certain way about him which seems to ease her angst. Mere Hall has secrets which Sofia eventually discovers, with the help of Great-great, who is still hanging around, in spirit at least and scaring the living daylights out of people! Edward is only interested in the money they'll make from the sale of her property. When Edward and Gypsy Jake meet up, it makes for an explosive situation. Sofia finally sees Edward for what he really is, and with Great-great's ‘inside' assistance, she sends him packing. With Jake's help, the secrets of Mere Hall are slowly uncovered and Sofia finds herself growing strangely fond of the old place, and of Great-great. The country isn't as bad as she thought after all. Jake also seems to be having a strange effect on her for some reason. But the man has his own secrets. When he tells her, will the city girl decide to remain in the country after all?
