Detached Lives — Jeff Inlo

Clayton Troblan finds the peace of his solitude disturbed by an intruder to his home. When the uninvited guest announces he is Sary the Conveyor from another world, Clay realizes the stranger might be more than a harmless distraction. Hoping to pacify his confused guest, Clay follows Sary and finds himself mysteriously transported to a village seemingly stuck in time. He discovers a feudal-like civilization mired in suspicion and hostility.

The conveyor insists that Clay must become a judge and settle a growing dispute between two tribal factions. The prospect of engaging aggressive and confrontational council members leaves the introverted accountant desperate to find a way home. Stranded, Clay searches for any shred of evidence which might offer a path of escape. Only by examining the underlying forces which allowed him to journey across time and space can Clay discover the reasons behind the growing conflict and determine the purpose of his destiny.
