Just out of the hospital after a freak accident, Julia Harris was persuaded by Lionel Graham, her attractive employer, to recuperate at Saverstall, his medieval home. Surrounded by his strange, secretive family, Julia soon realized that she was actually a prisoner there.

Then, when she stumbled on a labyrinth of caves under the castle and heard the almost inhuman cries echoing through the dark, eerie chambers, she knew that her accident had been deliberate, and the her life now hung in the balance.
