Description
Michael Darling was a child when he went away on a strange journey and came back forever changed. No one believes him that anything happened at all, that it isn't just a story he or his sister Wendy made up. He is thought of even by those who know him best as being among the gently mad.
But Michael knows he is not mad.
At school he is the odd fellow, violent and ignorant, fey and wild, loving in innocence and loved with calculation; in the trenches of the First World War he is the perfect soldier, focused and uncaring about anything but that which he loves. As a man, he is lost and uncertain, cast adrift by his inability to change.
When he was boy he could feed on air. He knew how to fly. But as a man he thought it better that he forget and try to be like everyone else. Until a danger rises against his family, and at last he is forced to remember everything he is. He will have to try to find his way back to the place he went to as a very small child: Neverland.
This is the story of Michael Darling.
A boy who would never, could never, grow up.
