In the country of Sohlgain, all young men are expected to chain a dragon. For Berun Toirnach, the eldest son of the nation's ruler, this means venturing onto a dragon reserve and hunting a wild dragon. The aftermath of this hunt will shape Berun's life. Given a position as a Thunder Priest and gifted the power to control lightning, Berun must decide what to do with this new power. Years later, in an attempt to escape responsibility for a short time, Berun and his friends take a trip to the idyllic beachside city of Hurthow.
