Clementine Rose and the Special Promise — Jacqueline Harvey

Clementine Rose has just found out that her friends, the Rousseau's, are leaving Penberthy Floss and moving back to France. While she is sad to see Sophie, Jules, Pierre, and Odette go, Clementine is excited about the idea of overseas pen pals and the prospect of new neighbors. When the new family arrives in the village, Clementine is delighted to see they have a daughter exactly her age. The girls meet at school and Clementine is quick to offer the hand of friendship, but it seems that the new girl isn't interested in making friends. What is making her so unfriendly? And will Clementine be able to find out what's really going on?
