author's note: Journey Into Darkness was begun some years ago. It is finally being written at the request of Charley French, one of several campers who heard the story while on camping trips with the author. Learning the original story had not been worked on for some time, he offered to represent the main character if the author would continue to work on the story. So for him and others who have enjoyed the telling of Journey Into Darkness this book is written.

Another camper, Michael Flanagan, suggested the format of the story. On behalf of the many young readers who do not like thick books, he felt several smaller books would be more appropriate. Therefore the story of Journey Into Darkness is told in a series of four books.
