Description
It was summer again, and Eve Colbert left her job in the city to return to Groversport, where she and her fifteen-year-old brother would live together in the cottage their parents had left them. It was the only time of the year she and Derk were together for the other months, the boy went to boarding school and the young woman was unsure of her ability to handle the teenager.
But that was the least of her problems. Dr. Samuel J. MacKenzie had taken over Dr. Dougall's practice for the summer. Sam, whom Eve had adored years ago, when she was a teenager. How could she cope with being his nurse, with being in the same office with him every day?
Her situation was not aided by the fact that everyone in Groversport knew everyone else's business. She had to contend with the gossipy Potter sisters, the inquisitive Medea, whose seashell "interpretations" were the talk of Cape Molly, and with young Nadine Aylward, a disturbed girl just getting over her uncle's death. His drowning the summer before had greatly disturbed Nadine, and Eve, in her nurse's role, was familiar with the case. And now Nadine claimed to have seen her uncle.
What is going on in the quiet, peaceful little town? Eve becomes involved in mystery and romance in the most exciting summer she had ever spent in the seaside resort of Groversport.
