Madge Fairley enjoys her work as secretary to television producer Miles Brent, although she is sad that he has fallen under the spell of the selfish actress Patricia Carnford. For Madge's sake, Miles gives amateur actor Jim Lingard a part in a television play, but this leads to disillusionment and much heart-searching for Madge.
