A former soldier, Gordon Reeve knows something about killing. So, despite the fact that his journalist brother Jim's death has been ruled a suicide, he can't shake the feeling that someone is responsible--and someone, Gordon thinks, will pay.

Traveling across an ocean, Gordon arrives in California determined to get answers to the innumerable questions swirling in his head: Why was the car Jim's body was found in locked from the outside? Why can't he shake the local cop who keeps thwarting Gordon's attempts to talk to the friend who saw Jim last? Why would anyone want Jim dead?

Keeping his anger in check is something Gordon has never been very good at, but he's got to stay cool if he is going to get to the bottom of the situation. Only then can he let the rage he cultivated during his years as a professional killer help him exact revenge on whoever dared harm his family.
