After the success of the Charlie Chan and Mr. Moto films, Monogram hired Boris Karloff (Frankenstein, The Terror, Mad Mad Monster Party) to play Hugh Wiley's Detective James Lee Wong in a series of Mr. Wong movies. Keye Luke, Charlie Chan's No. 1 son, played Mr. Wong in the final movie of the series.
