Description
Private detectives Joop Wheeler and Kevin Sweeney are hired to help defend an emotionally damaged poet accused of attempting to murder her estranged lover. With their client in a psychotic state and the comatose victim on life support, the only way the pair can gather the facts of the case is to delve into the art world and the local gay and lesbian community -- where they're not always comfortable and not always welcome.
Time is critical; the victim's husband -- to whom she remains married -- has the authority to remove her from life support, in which case their poet client will be facing a charge of murder.
Described by Publisher's Weekly as "a fresh, slightly off-the-wall tale," Lightning in the Blood brings together a disparate cast of characters -- artists, lawyers, therapists, academics, and private investigators -- caught up in an attempt to understand the dark mysteries of the human heart.
