Description
World-famous, Dieter Alt is a week away from the opening of his retrospective at the Guggenheim in Manhattan. Deliberately the painter has set the event to coincide with his daughter's 18th birthday, and so Alt junior too is determined to make her mark: with a wrap of the main tower at Neuschwanstein, King Ludwig's fairy-tale castle in Bavaria. It's an unauthorized undertaking, though, for which she has enlisted helpers with secret agendas of their own: political rather than artistic ones, spoiling what Charli Alt had meant to convey. An unusual mix of fast-paced narrative, history of art and experimental fiction, Picturestory explores how modern works of art go out in the world, how they are seen and what is made of them by politicians abusing them for their own agendas and ends.
