Odd Woman Out — George Douglas

Chief Inspector Bill Hallam and Sergeant 'Jack' Spratt of the Deniston C.I.D. are investigating the death of Madge Adkin. The dead woman had peculiar habits and claimed to be a bird-watcher, but knew nothing about birds. The trail they follow leads them to an escaped prisoner, an unorthodox 'healer' and a bunch of anonymous letters... The killer seems to have covered his tracks, but a blackmail attempt, quite unconnected with the murder, brings the detectives the proof they need.
