A Sundae with Judy — Frieda Friedman

Plump Judy lives with her family above their candy and ice cream store in a rather shabby but friendly neighborhood in New York. At least it's friendly until Judy has to make a choice between her nice new friend, and the other girls in her club.

“You have to choose between that girl and me!” says Margaret. She means it too, and Judy is afraid that the Saturday Club will break up.

That's only one of Judy's problems -- she worries about Butch and his family, too. They're in trouble. How can the gang raise money to help?

All in all, it's a busy summer for Judy. And most of the excitement seems to begin as she mixes and fixes sodas and sundaes in Dad's candy store.
