Bearcub — Freya Robertson

Bearcub wants to join the Militis - the holy knights who both worship and protect the Arbor, and he travels with his father to Heartwood for the Allectus choosing ceremony, certain his fate is entwined with the great tree. He believes it is the Militis's job to defend the weak, but when he stands up for one of his competitors, he discovers he is expected to control his temper and do as he is told or else he risks his chances of joining the order. Bearcub has to decide what is most important to him - his future or his honour. What choice will he make?
