Description
A dead man in a suspiciously clean car has Gloucestershire-based DI Keith Tyrell unraveling an intriguing mystery, but just as he gets his first real break, the case is passed onto a central squad. Then Tyrell is asked to review evidence used in a five-year-old conviction of a child murderer. Hindered by resentful colleagues and an interfering civilian, the DI finds himself sidelined yet again.
The still aggrieved Tyrell is now given a rural posting in a Cotswold village he knows well, at the request of the American embassy. He is needed to help confirm the identity of a resident suspected of arranging terrorism for profit in the USA. All is going well until a fresh corpse is deposited outside the local church during a concert, Tyrell himself providing the perfect alibi for the main suspect -- who was actually at the performance with him. But only when a friend's house is burned down and Tyrell's wife Jenny becomes a target does he realize the killer is on the verge of bringing bigger plans to fruition and must be stopped quickly -- whatever the cost.
