When Flaminius, takes his wife, Flavia, to the Colosseum to see Christians thrown to the lions, he has no idea the effect it will have. Flavia cannot forget the faith of the martyrs, and decides to convert and become a Christian. Flaminus is horrified and after trying in vain to cause her to give up her faith, requests a transfer to a more remote government post to save the family from disgrace and ruin. As he and his family travel,he sees the various responses of the Christian churches to persecution.
