Description
While many folks in Black River Falls, Iowa, support the hippie farm commune on the outskirts of town, others want it gone. The controversy heats up when the daughter of the town's wealthy industrialist is found stabbed in the cooperative's barn. The task of sifting through the free love, drugs and murder falls to lawyer and private investigator Sam McCain.
The young woman's boyfriend, a tormented Vietnam veteran, is the prime suspect. Yet Sam isn't convinced -- even after the man flees.
So as the social and political unrest of 1968 play out across this small town, he follows a trail littered with dirty family laundry, where sex, secrets and injustice collide violently. Sam is determined to nab the killer before he strikes again, because power to the people does not include getting away with murder.
