Description
Karen couldn't believe what was happening to her.
Abruptly changed from a nobody into the wife of a wealthy aristocrat, just weeks before Karen had been an American working girl on vacation in Europe. Then she met a handsome young German. The attraction had been thoroughly magnetic and instantaneous, and before she had time to think, she was his bride. But no sooner did her husband have her in his possession than he lost interest in her.
Alone in his chilly castle in the remote Rhineland, Karen knows despair -- and danger. The despair comes from the traces of her husband's former mistress she finds all through the rooms. The danger, at first, is incidental, a fall from her horse, a locked room -- until Karen senses the accidents are not accidents, but attempts on her life by someone who wants her out of the way.
But most frightening of all are the haunting visits she receives from the skull-faced lady in white -- the ghost of a long-ago family bride. And when Karen learns the centuries -- old legend that surrounds the apparition, she knows she is being summoned to her death by the BRIDE OF THE DARK CASTLE
