Description
There is to be a new King and Queen of England. George V and Mary's coronation is a long way from the rural village in Kent. Inspector Billoughby is called in as a favour to an old colleague to foil a plan that could bring the monarchy down. Billoughby, along with Daisy, heads to the dirty streets of London. They aim to infiltrate the old boy's network by any means necessary. Posing as a businessman, Billoughby introduces his police constable as his daughter. Meanwhile, back in the countryside, Elsbeth has her hands full with the arrival of three motherless children. The children are to stay with her at the hall where she will educate them. Mary and Robert's wedding day approaches as the country bakes in a heatwave. It's Henry. He's missing. Janet started to cry; it was obvious by her face that it wasn't the first time today. Oh, my dear, sit down. How long has he been gone? Fishing a handkerchief from her pocket, Janet wiped her bleary eyes then blew her nose. Three days now Grace. I expected him back from London on Friday afternoon. When he didn't arrive I thought that maybe he was running behind. It's Tuesday now and I haven't heard a word from him. Oh, where can he be Grace? Patting her on the shoulder Grace was quietly wondering to herself if her cousin had left his wife. You hadn't argued about anything before he went to London? No, we have our moments as do all couples but never anything serious. You know Henry, he's so mild-mannered that they don't amount to much. He's faithful, kind, and loving. I've never had cause to think he would just go off. Here, let's get your coat off, there you go, that's better. Milton will be home soon, I'm certain we can sort this out between us, Yes? The woman nodded I hope so, it's so not like him.
