Description
"Dear Marina,
I hope you're not reading this. If you are, I'm probably dead, and if I am, I need you to know why. Right now I'm with two people who intend to kill me. I know you won't believe this, but those people are you and Finn, versions of you from the future."
Time has spiraled back to the present. Marina and Finn have no concept of the events that occurred in their alternate future. All they know is James is gone. What really caused his death is a mystery to them and so they cling to belief--along with the guilt--that James took his own life.
They find solace in each other. An unlikely friendship has grown into something much more. They open up to each other about dreams they have about James--dark and confusing, but so vivid, they could almost be memories. When a letter from James surfaces, pieces of the past are thrown into even more disarray. In it, he urges Marina to destroy all of his scientific work on time travel. The trouble is, just a few days earlier Marina's house was ransacked. The only thing missing were James' journals.
Now, Finn, Marina and Jame's brother Nate are determined to find the calculations. In the wrong hands the future could repeat itself leading to disastrous consequences. But in the right hands James' brilliant work could undo the past.
Maybe those dreams aren't just dreams. Maybe James is trying to tell them something. And maybe, just maybe, they can bring him back.
