Description
Victoria Meadows moves from Manhattan to Twelve Lakes in upstate New York, an area dominated by thousands of acres of state parks, lakes, and steep mountain slopes. She builds a massive lodge on the edge of a grand state park and offers horseback riding and other outdoor adventures that draw an entirely new kind of tourist to this remote northern village. When business booms, Victoria has a new set of problems. The locals resent her success and culture. Nothing in the area measures up to the posh atmosphere of Victory Lodge and Victoria isn't shy about saying so. Pretty soon Victoria is the least popular person in a county where kids learn to shoot long before they can drive. When things start going wrong, Victoria doesn't know where to turn. The sheriff and his deputy can't measure up to the protection she received from the NYPD. Her neighbors despise her and even the forest teems with creatures eager to devour her. A chance encounter brings Victoria together with a man who just might be able to save her. But what can he do against a county of angry hillbillies armed to the teeth?
