When Doug Maitland reported his father missing, guest-relations manager Marianne Spencer began a routine search of Children's World. What turned up was the body of a Naval Intelligence officer and evidence that Doug's father had gone underground somewhere in the family amusement park.

Was Doug's father a patriot running from foreign agents or a traitor hiding from American justice? The answer wasn't easy to find, for the trail to the elder Maitland was a dangerous maze of false leads, impenetrable clues and unknown enemies who'd do whatever vas necessary to hide the truth.
