Description
Twelve-year-old Morgaina England's summoned by a mysterious voice and goes outside in the dark to a spooky cave where she's sent on a mission by the ghost of her mother, but danger waits.
In full battle dress, with a talking book in her pocket to guide her, knees knocking and heart pounding, she mounts a magic horse and speeds through time and space. Luckily she brought along her mother's magic sword, because she's going to need it. Good thing she's been taking dueling lessons at school, too. With each step she takes that brings her closer to Odin, King of the Gods, her bravery increases as she meets nasty fairies, mean elves, a lemon-throwing dwarf, and a trickster god.
If she doesn't hurry and do as Odin asks, she'll be banished from the earth or worse.
She teams up with Bjorn, the Terrible, who's also twelve and together they make a good team, and figure out where to find the terrifying Odin and how to help him without dallying too long in the chocolate forest. No matter what, she has to be back in her bed by morning, or she'll be doing dishes for a year at the orphanage and Odin's Earthly daughter may be killed.
