Twelve-year-old Ian has sprouted wings, and not even the doctors know why. Shunned by his family, he finds solace in a fellow outsider named Anita, who takes him to her home in the mountains. There he finds the strength to fly and the love to survive while he makes a painful decision -- should he keep his wings and his gift of flight, or remove them and become like everyone else?
