Description
Samantha Martin was eagerly driving to an Illinois writers' conference when a heavy storm and car damage forced her to stay at an isolated old house owned by Larry Ross, a handsome young farmer. From the start, strange sounds and sights and smells assailed Sam: music and footsteps, a glowing light and an eerie figure, and--weirdest of all--the fragrance of lilacs. Larry's beautiful mother, who had lived in this house, had always worn lilac perfume. But she was dead now. Yet the love and jealousy she had once inspired lived on. And in some odd way those old emotions had become twisted in someone's mind, someone who wanted Samantha out of the way, someone who seemed more ghostly than human.
