Description
Alexander Mathanach has turned his back on the past. The woman he loved betrayed him, broke his heart and tested his faith. Yet, despite his bitterness, he fulfilled the vow he made to her. As promised, he took the child from the abbey, raised her as his own, and kept the secret of her birth.
But Alexander is also guardian to another more ancient and powerful secret, one that attracts evil to his doorstep. When the girl he adopted is cruelly taken, he is forced to fight and to revisit the tragic events of his past. In doing so, he must also face a possibility he has long denied.
What if he wasn't betrayed? What if those he loved had not lied?
It would mean that a miracle occurred on that starry night, long ago. Which would also mean that Alexander made a terrible mistake in judgment.
If so, then how can he ever hope to make amends? He can't. At least, not without another miracle.
