Greystones mansion stood alone and imposing on the barren cliffs above the stark New England seascape. Its widow's walk and ominous gargoyles seemed reminiscent of the generations of Thornton's who had shared the mansions turbulent past.

To this brooding but romantic old estate came the young English girl, Gwen Campbell, as governess for her young niece.

She soon found that fear, not happiness, awaited her. For a strange aura permeated Greystones, an evil heritage that had caused the unnatural deaths of two of the mansion's mistresses.
