Description
Dependent on his grandfather for a further five years until he came into his inheritance, failed artist Jacques Carpenter was in no position to argue when he was exiled to the country estate, leaving behind the excitement of the city which was his lifeblood. The only company Jacques had to look forward to in his isolation was Christopher Maartens, his grandfather's sixteen year old ward. When Christopher turned out to be a girl, gauche and poorly dressed, Jacques' resentment knew no bounds.
