Last Chance Bay — Anne Carter

Set in Cape Breton in the early stages of the Second World War, Last Chance Bay tells the story of Meg, a young girl who dreams of flying. Inspired by her heroines Amelia Earhart and Beryl Markham, Meg's dream is a lofty one and unlikely to ever come true. Meg's father, like most of the men in town, is employed in the coal mine, and life for all is a daily struggle for survival.
