Description
Former petty criminal Piet Hoffmann leads a double life: In one, he is a doting husband and father to two small boys he will do anything to protect; in the other, he is a secret informant for the Swedish police, working deep undercover as a Polish drug trafficker. When he is given his most dangerous mission yet, to infiltrate the booming drug trade in Sweden's high-security prisons, the terms are clear: He will be on his own, with nothing to support him except his wits and the cover identity he and his police handler have spent years creating.
When a botched drug deal involving Hoffmann results in the death of another police informant, the investigation is assigned to the brilliant but haunted Detective Superintendent Ewert Grans, famous for his dogged pursuit of the facts, no matter how inconvenient they might be to his superiors. As Grens gets closer to the truth behind the murder -- revealing a trail of corruption that leads to the highest levels of the Swedish government -- he unknowingly puts Hoffmann's life and family at risk.
