Kelly George has just moved into town, and she hates her new school. She spends every night in her room listening to her favorite Johnny Jack albums and dreaming up ways to meet the famous rock star. Convinced that she's the perfect girl for him, she enters a contest to win a date with Johnny.

Then Kelly meets cute, friendly Tommy McKeever, and for the first time she begins to feel that she belongs. When Tommy invites her to a school dance, Kelly's thrilled -- until she wins the date with Johnny Jack and realizes it's on the same night as the big dance!
