Fear stalks the corridors as Emily Reid discovers a game of homicidal hide-and-seek.
The trouble began when Emily Reid was awakened at dawn by the confused ramblings of the new patient in the semi-private room. Something about a dog and a lily and what might happen when the snow came. A few hours later the first flakes began to fall. And, in another part of town, a couple who were currently using the name of Thompson thought again of the enviable fortune accumulated by their former employer, eccentric old Miss Coppendale.
Emily, wrapped in a sense of false security, was not interested in other patients' dreams. She had the more pressing problem of what had happened to Charles Telfair. Even the nurses thought it was strange for an engaged young woman not to receive any calls or flowers from her fiancé. Something was very wrong.
