It was all a mistake.
When dashing Lord Arundale (quite the catch of the countryside despite the fact that he had given up on women) accidentally stumbled into Drina Alcott's bedroom, that lovely young innocent pulled up the bedcovers and stared in horror.
But by now the rest of the household, including her furious uncle, had been alerted to this seemingly shameful state of affairs. They assumed the worst.
And so Drina, whose heart had been secretly lusting after the young Lord anyway, was forced into a marriage in name only.
To all appearances, it was a most respectable marriage. The surprise came when suddenly they fell in love.
