Caroline Lister and James Everett disliked each other at sight and it was unfortunate that she was the new community nurse and he the junior partner in a village group practice. Their work brought them into constant contact and gradually their antagonism lessened. But James did not really approve of Caroline's close friendship with Timothy Reid, the out-of-work son of her landlady, particularly as the local people gossiped about them. James was himself involved with the daughter of one of the other doctors and there was a great deal of misunderstand to be sorted out before Caroline found true happiness with the man of her choice.
